Road structure


A road is usually built in several layers, each layer is having a special function. Following main structural elements in road or airfield construction are :

1. Subgrade :
Native earth foundation of the embankment.

2. Subbase :
Selected material placed to furnish strength to the base.

3. Pavement :
Consisting of base, binder and surfacing courses.
